Open Letter to all Mass Bass Members 1/17/2006 As the January Federation Directors meeting, Mass Bass reaffirmed its support of the TBF unanimously with 1 abstention. This means we are no longer affiliated with B.A.S.S. and we have accepted the TBF, FLW and BassFan Offers. We are still committed to Skeeter and will honor our contract until expiration April 30th, at which time we will officially become a TBF/FLW Federation. I have taken the summary Page originally written by the Georgia President Larry Lewis and updated it with the current data. It is important to note that if you disagree, you have until January 24th to opt out. If you choose to opt out, your Federation and TBF National dues will be refunded to you. To Opt Out, call or email our secretary Peter deMoya. These are the changes for Mass Bass Federation members. 1. You will not have to continue to be a member of BASS at the increased cost of $ 25.00 per/year membership, and receive BASSMASTER magazine. 2. You will not be required to continue to be a BASS National Federation member at the increased cost of $ 20.00 dues. 3. You will continue to have a better Liability Insurance and Accidental Death/Dismemberment policy than your chapter has now. This cost will be part of the TBF Federation membership. There are also FLW discounts on E-Health Insurance and Travelers policies for your other insurance needs. 4. You will not get priority entry to some BASS sanctioned events. You will get priority and/or early entry into BFL, Stren Series and FLW Series Tournaments. FLW will provide TBF State Champions guaranteed slots to Stren Series- Pro slots for those who commit to all 4 division events. 5. You will not continue to receive BASSTIMES magazine for free. You will not continue to receive BASS associated sponsor benefits. 6. You will continue to have an opportunity to fish in the States Championship Tournament (If your chapter meets the qualifications listed in the Bylaws).
7. TBF/FLW would continue support for a Casting Kids type program and Jr. Programs with the Federations with support from "Top to Bottom". Funding and/or support from "Family Values" companies like Walmart, Kellogg's, Boy Scouts of America and others. TBF/FLW Jr World Championship at the FLW Championship with Travel assistance and Youth winners on the Kellogg's Box. Annual Youth Directors and Conservation Workshops. 8. You will have timely communications with TBF management, some of which have over 30 years membership in the Federations. There will be a full time Director, Youth Director, Conservation Director and Staff. You will have a Representative Group that will “LISTEN” and take action on issues concerning the Federations. They will work closely with each State to make the Federation stronger than ever before. These Representatives will be Federation members and have our Federation's welfare as first priority, NOT making money or doing TV shows. They are part of the organization. 9. You will have “Full Accounting” accounting for your money. 10. We will continue to have our Tournament Trail, including State Team Opens and Youth Tournaments, no changes. 11. We will have category exclusives with some FLW Sponsors, but we are free to work with companies outside of those categories. 12. Nothing would change in your States Federation and the TBF, Inc will NOT pass down MANDATES. If changes are made it will because all the States Federation Presidents “VOTED” for the change. Not forced down your throat. 13. Sponsors will be more involved than ever before with promotional products and services for your State Championship Tournament, the Divisionals Tournaments and National Federation Tournaments events. 14. We will have a dedicated National Website provided at no cost by BassFan. If you win a tournament, we provide a picture and a phone #. BassFan will call and interview you and write the story. There will be daily coverage, Print, Internet Radio and Internet TV from the #1 Bass Fishing website in the world. 15. FLW online store discounts on Clothing, Electronics, Cell phones, and more. 16 FLW/TBF Credit card with any fees and commissions sent directly to the state Federation. 17 The TBF will provide $1 per member ($250 minimum) to fund youth in our state There will also be $1 per member, minimum $250 to conservation. 18. FLW will return $7 for every new paid FLW member who is not currently a Federation Member to the States that sign them up. This includes any members of the General Public we sign up at a show. 19. These are only “Some” of the Benefits each Federation Member can expect. The Doors are wide open for many more opportunities for the TBF, Inc Federation members and will be vigorously sought for the membership.
I hope this answers all your questions. Feel free to email me at john@massbass.com , Peter at Peter@massbass.com or Joe at massbass@gis.net. John Sampson
